Blackwood Neighbourhood Policing Team are urging residents to remain vigilant following an increase in reports of property break-ins, vehicle thefts, vehicle break-ins, and motorcycle thefts across the area.

Offenders are often targeting insecure homes and unattended vehicles, particularly during overnight hours. Residents are encouraged to review their security measures and report any suspicious behaviour promptly.

Crime prevention advice:

• Ensure all doors and windows are locked at all times, including garages and sheds
• Remove keys from locks and keep car keys away from doors and windows
• Do not leave valuables, bags, tools, or electronic devices on display inside vehicles
• Use steering wheel locks, immobilisers, alarms, and tracking devices where possible
• Park vehicles and motorcycles in secure, well-lit locations
• Secure motorcycles with approved chains and locks attached to a fixed object
• Install CCTV, security lighting, or video doorbells where possible
• Avoid leaving spare keys outside properties
• Be mindful of suspicious individuals checking door handles or looking into parked vehicles
• Report suspicious activity, unknown vehicles, or persons acting suspiciously in the area

Residents are reminded that even simple security measures can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
